The fiercely independent Homeboy Sandman; Detroit royalty Guilty Simpson and Quelle Chris; underground king Sonnyjim; Bronx-residing Pruven with Cannibal Ox’s Vast Aire, plus Manchester prodigy Burgundy Blood all perform songs from Mala Leche live, for the first time, anywhere.
Mala Leche is the debut hip hop record from Doves’ Jimi Goodwin, under the nom-de-plume NightjaR. He assembled some of his favourite MCs for the project, and for one night only the whole flock orbits Manchester for the debut live performance of songs from the album.
NightjaR is a murky, beat-driven aspect of Goodwin’s output that provides a useful alias in the process of him becoming completely himself. After appearing on Pan Amsterdam’s second LP ‘Ha Chu’ under the guise of Coup Diablo, Jimi honed the NightjaR sound which was fleshed out further by the illustrious MCs joining him tonight.
Jimi performs and provides musical direction for the event, together with fellow Ha Chu veteran and well known face at Band on the Wall, Agent J of Groovement.
