Lynskey is a two-piece band that “defies easy categorisation – pulling threads from punk, emo, nu-metal, and mathcore to weave together a chaotic yet surprisingly nuanced sound” [Vinyl Fantasy Reviews]
Composed of B Murray (they/them) on modified guitar, synth, and lead vocals with Saul Gerrard (he/him) on drums, and backing vocals.
Inspired in part by bands such as Enter Shikari, Future Of The Left, Reuben, and System Of A Down; the pair also take cues from artists such as Open Mike Eagle, Cardiacs, Everything Everything, and “anyone we like at a gig.”
Reviews of their 3rd EP ‘here, this is for you’ say it’s, “not only worth listening to, but vital to listen to” [Vinyl Fantasy Reviews] and live show reviews asking you to “Give them your time, they are a joy” [God Is In The TV] plus consistently fun, interesting, and earnest social media content that engages with the scene they are in, and provides genuine insight into their music and process. Lynskey are truly hitting their stride in every aspect of being a modern band.
The duo have taken DIY as a moniker to heart with painting their t-shirts by hand, self recording all their music so far, and keeping every aspect of their live show just that, live, without a backing track in sight.
You don’t mosh at Lynskey shows. No pits will be opened, nor crowds killed. Dance, don’t fight.
