Horizons Festival celebrates the enduring power and creativity of international artists who have made Manchester their home. Featuring a vibrant programme of new film and visual art, theatre, community events, discussion, family-friendly workshops and live music, Horizons Festival 2025 is inspired by the theme ‘More In Common’, reflecting a shared desire to find common ground and build understanding.
Band on the Wall joins forces with HOME and Community Arts North West for this year’s festival which will take place from Thursday 12 June until Sunday 15 June running mainly at HOME Manchester.

LINE UP
Guacamaya Latin Band
Led by José Mesa, this vibrant band blends Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Cuban, Balkan, Psychedelic Cumbia, Samba, Salsa, Merengue, and more to create a high-energy fusion of global sounds. Born in Manchester in 2015, the band is rooted in Venezuelan coastal rhythms and African heritage, with lyrics that explore identity, love, and the struggles of exodus. Guacamaya’s performances are a celebration of freedom and connection, making every show a dance-filled journey across cultures.
Xaawo Kiin
One of Somalia’s top female musicians, Xaawo Kiin’s music reflects Somali culture through laments, love songs, and empowering pieces addressing political and social issues. Based in Manchester since 2010, she incorporates dance, crafts, and cultural attire into her performances to introduce Somali traditions to UK audiences. Her artistry bridges her heritage with her new home.
Hamsaz Ensemble
This 15-strong group of Iranian musicians brings the sounds of their homeland to life with traditional instruments like the Setar and Daf alongside Western elements. Their music tells stories of adaptation and hope while championing the resilience of the Iranian people. With performances at festivals like Migration Matters, Hamsaz Ensemble offers a heartfelt exploration of folklore and contemporary diaspora experiences.
Without Borders
Without Borders combines the talents and creativity of eleven young musicians with diverse global roots. Playing an eclectic mix of contemporary, self-penned and traditional music, the band create and perform music inspired by their musical interests and global heritages.
