Trio Da Kali are three remarkably gifted musicians from Mali. They are a unique format of vocals, balafon (xylophone) and ngoni bass. The members of Trio Da Kali are celebrated performers in their own right, coming from the most celebrated of Mali’s jeli [griot] families. Well-known for their award-winning album ‘Ladilikan’(World Circuit Records 2017), in collaboration with Kronos Quartet, and for their mesmerising performances at festivals around the world . The new album, Bagola, is their first full-length solo recording. It features creative new approaches to the deep heritage of Malian music, inspired by encounters with other musics, Bagola is a showcase of Trio Da Kali’s entrancing and unique sound, only equalled by their magical performances on stage. In their new album Bagola, Trio Da Kali present newly composed songs accompanied on balafon and ngoni bass, that provide a rich accompaniment to the spectacular voice of Hawa Kasse Mady Diabaté. Trio Da Kali was founded in 2013 under the initiative of the Aga Khan Music Programme, with the help of three-times Grammy-nominated and multi-award-winning music producer Lucy Durán.
