Gigs at Manchester Academy
The Manchester Academy is located on Oxford Road in Manchester city centre. The venue comprises of three academy areas (Academy 1, 2 and 3) as well as Club Academy. It also houses the students Union.
The building is owned by The University of Manchester, and is operated by SJM Concerts. Academy 1 is the largest of the four rooms, holding 2,600. Academy 2 and 3 have capacity for 950 and 650 respectively, whilst Club Academy has a maximum capacity of 470. Gigs at Manchester Academy can be held in any of the rooms, depending on the size of the acts.
Originally built in the 1957s to house the Students Union, the building was later extended in the 1990s and early 2000s - adding capacity to host gigs at the Manchester Academy. There is an eclectic mix of artists who've performed at the Academy, from Adele, through to Megadeath and Queen.
